These Oven Baked Ribs are baked low and slow until they’re fall off the bone tender! They take minutes to prepare with less than 5 ingredients. You’re going to LOVE them!
I know, I know, for lots of people it’s still not grilling season. While we like to grill all year long no matter the weather, I get it, it’s still not prime grilling weather everywhere on the map.
Ribs are one thing I love to cook on the grill or the smoker, but have you guys ever tried cooking them in your oven?
Why You’ll Love this Recipe
These Oven Baked Ribs are to die for. They’re coated with a dry rub and some brown sugar, wrapped in foil and cooked low and slow and when they’re done they’re super duper tender.
Five ingredients is all you’ll need and less than 15 minutes of prep time.
Ingredients You’ll Need
- baby back ribs
- yellow mustard
- your favorite BBQ rub (I used Meat Church Honey Hog BBQ)
- light brown sugar
- your favorite BBQ sauce (I used Sweet Baby Ray’s Original BBQ Sauce)
What to Serve with Your Ribs
Once these are in the oven baking away you have a few hours to throw together any sides you enjoy with your ribs. We love to serve ours with my Baked Bean Casserole, my Crazy Good Mac N’ Cheese and my Shaved Brussels Sprouts Salad.
Step-By-Step Instructions
The first step is to remove the membrane from the back of your ribs and discard. Then you’ll lay out some foil and slather your ribs, front and back, with some yellow mustard. I gave an estimated amount of mustard below but it will really depend on the size of your rack. Just make sure the entire surface is covered. Don’t worry, you won’t taste the mustard after the ribs are cooked, it just helps the rub stick better to the ribs.
The second step is to sprinkle the ribs generously, once again front and back, with your favorite BBQ rub. I like to use Honey Hog BBQ by Meat Church. Once again the amount you’ll use depends on the size rack you have. Then you’ll sprinkle some light brown sugar on top of the ribs. (just the top)
You seal your ribs up tightly in your foil and place on a rimmed baking sheet and bake at 325 degrees for 1 1/2 hours.
The third step will be to remove the ribs from the oven after the 1 1/2 hours and open the foil, drain the extra grease and then pour your favorite BBQ sauce (I use Sweet Baby Ray’s Original) over the top of the ribs. You’ll seal the ribs back up in the foil and cook for an additional 20 minutes.
The last step will be to remove the ribs from the oven, open the foil and then continue to cook for an additional 20 minutes.
My rack of baby back ribs was about 2 1/2 lbs. and fed four people. If you need to feed more than four, grab another rack and double the other ingredients. The cook time will remain the same. Just wrap each rack separately and bake.
I guarantee you won’t make these ribs just once! They’re sooooo good!

A Few Cook’s Notes for Oven Baked Ribs
You can use whatever BBQ rub and BBQ sauce you prefer.
We like to serve our ribs with extra warm BBQ sauce.
Ribs are best cooked low and slow, so don’t be tempted to raise the temp to hurry things along. Good things come to those who wait.
