There’s no better way to celebrate a summer Thirsty Thursday than with this cool and refreshing cocktail called The Tipsy Cat!
Get ready folks….it’s Thirsty Thursday at the BHK!
So friends, you know my “mo” by now. It goes somethin’ like this. I take a little trip to visit my son Sean in my favorite city, Charleston, South Carolina and I come back with an incredibly delicious little libation to share with you guys. And as usual, I wait for the perfect occasion to share it. Remember my last one?? The Sauvignon Sunset to kickoff the summer of 2016?
Well, today I’m sharing another favorite I’m calling the Tipsy Cat from my last visit to the Holy City. Sean and I stopped in some great places like The Macintosh, The Tattooed Moose and The Bay Street Biergarten and enjoyed some of the best food ever! And of course we needed to sample some delicious cocktails to wash it all down. The winner from the fabulous list of cocktails we sampled this time around was one from the Bay Street Biergarten and it’s just perfect for summer!
The folks from the Biergarten call this libation One Cool Cat, but since I may have enjoyed more than one, I’m calling it The Tipsy Cat! This cocktail is a refreshing combination of Cathead Honeysuckle Vodka, elderflower liqueur, muddled cucumbers and lemon and a splash of club soda. I’m usually not a martini style drinker, but this Honeysuckle Vodka from Cathead Distillery in Mississippi had me curious. It’s got a sweet and delicate flavor with a well-rounded fresh finish along with the soft floral and herbaceous aromas of honeysuckle. It’s so unique. It’s definitely earned a top spot on my list of favorite flavored vodkas.
I chose to share The Tipsy Cat today to toast my good friend Vaughn who will be competing in the Iron Man Race in Coeur D’Alene, Idaho this weekend. Vaughn’s a very talented athlete who has been training hard over the last six months! Tom and I and all our good friends wish him all the best! Go Vaughn!
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 oz. Cathead Honeysuckle Vodka
- 3/4 oz. elderflower liqueur
- 3 slices cucumber
- 2 slices fresh lemon
- splash club soda
Instructions
- Muddle the cucumber and lemon slices in the bottom of a cocktail shaker with the elderflower liqueur.
- Add the Cathead Honeysuckle Vodka.
- Double strain mixture to a martini glass.
- Add a splash of club soda.
- Garnish withe a cucumber and lemon slice.

I just wanted to mention the Honeysuckle Vodka featured in today’s cocktail was a gift from my friends at Cathead Distillery.

Courtney
Hello. Thank you for your helpful posts! I plan to make this for our “cat” themed Halloween gathering this year (it falls on a “meow Monday” this year!). HaHA!
I have already ordered the Cathead Honeysuckle Vodka, and am very excited about that! But, my question is about the Elderflower Liqueur. I’d like to know what brand you chose and if there is any difference between Elderflower Liqueur and Elderflower “Syrup”. I see predominantly the syrup online and I don’t want to make a mistake. Thank you for any assistance you can provide. I located your post via Pinterest.
Mary Ann
Ha! You can either use St. Germain or St. Elder and can purchase either at a liquor store. This is one of my favorite cocktails! Hope your party is awesome and thanks so much for commenting!
