These Slow Cooker Italian Baked Beans are perfect for all your summer BBQ’s! They go wonderfully with burgers, hot dogs, ribs, you name it! They’re over-the-top ZESTY and ridiculously easy to make too!
These Slow Cooker Italian Baked Beans are a new favorite of mine. My good friend Debbie got the recipe from our other good friend Laurie who’s been making it for like ever. When I first tasted the recipe at Debbie’s I was hooked. Yup, hook, line and sinker. SOOOOO good and soooo easy too.
Why You’ll Love this Recipe
I know you guys have been total fans of an old favorite here at the BHK, my Baked Three Bean Casserole, as well as my Mexican Baked Beans, so I just know you’re going to love these.
And what could be simpler than a slow cooker recipe? Just throw every thing and set it and forget it.
It is perfect for any time of the year. It’s a comfort food dish that’s work as a side for any of your food from the grill this summer. Hot dogs, burgers, ribs, steak.
Ingredients You’ll Need
- bulk Italian sausage
- yellow onion
- canned baked beans
- canned light red kidney beans
- canned butter beans
- tomato paste
- light brown sugar
- canned cut green beans
- dry mustard
Sometimes it’s difficult to find the butter beans, so if you can’t find them at your local market feel free to use cannellini beans or great northern white beans.
Step-By-Step Instructions
The first step will be to brown your Italian sausage and onions. If your slow slow cooker has a sauté function you can do it right in there, if not just do it in a large skillet. After the meat is cooked through and no longer pink and the onions are a bit softened, you’ll drain the fat and continue on to step two.
The second step and final step is to stir in all the remaining ingredients to the sausage and onion mixture in the slow cooker. You’ll cook the beans for 3-4 hours on high or 6-8 hours on low.
That’s it folks. How easy is that?
Hope everyone has a wonderful Memorial Day weekend! Summer 2025 here we come!
