The smash taco trend has been around for a while now. What I love about smash burger tacos is that you can basically create whatever suits your fancy. You can use ground beef, ground chicken or ground turkey. You can make the classic smash burger taco, make a smash dumpling taco or even a chicken caesar smash tacos. The variations are endless. Jus use your imagination.
Step-By-Step Instructions
The first step is to add your ground chicken, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, onion powder, salt and pepper to a large bowl and mix with a rubber spatula until well combined.
The second step is to evenly distribute the ground chicken mixture to the center of each of your six tortillas and then press the mixture down flat almost close to the edges of the tortilla as pictured below.
The third step is to add your taco or tacos to your skillet or griddle over medium-high heat meat side down and cook for three minutes. You’ll flip the tacos and then top with some of your marinara sauce (about 2 tablespoons), a sprinkle of grated Parmesan and a thin slice or two of your fresh mozzarella. You’ll continue to cook for an addtional three minutes until the cheese is melted and the bottom of your tacos is lightly browned.
I usually place a lid over the tacos to help along with the cheese melting.
Once the tacos are done cooking you can sprinkle them with some additional grated Parmesan cheese as well as some of your chopped basil.
I use my Lotus Short Order Precision Griddle to make my smash tacos, but you can also use a skillet and make them one at a time.
These are seriously always a hit at our house. They’re fun to make and even more fun to eat!

A Few Cook’s Notes for Chicken Parmesan Smash Tacos
I just grab an 8-oz. ball of fresh mozzarella and slice it very thin into roughly 12 slices, two per taco.
You can use whatever marinara is your favorite. My son turned us on to Yo Mama’s which we love because it has no sugar added and it’s lower in sodium than some other brands. This isn’t a sponsored post. I’m just sharing what we enjoy.
