This Easy Skillet Stovetop Lasagna is a weeknight dinner game changer. It’s everything you love about lasagna, but one skillet on your stovetop, super simple and no mess.
Updated: This post was first published here at the BHK in April 2020. I’ve since updated the post and added a VIDEO below. I thought it would be perfect for a reshare this holiday season.
Hey there folks. Just a few more days until Christmas. Are you ready?
I’m ready as I’ll ever be. This year is going to be super low key for us because of what’s going on in the world, but it’ll still be special.
We plan on spending time at home having movie nights, catching up on some good books, new Netflix series and playing a few new board games that are on our list from Santa.
We’re going to make the best of it. Hope you are too.
In between our game playing, reading and TV watching, we’ll need to whip up some quick and easy delicious meals to keep us all satisfied.
I’m a fan of lasagna, but when I’m busy, it’s not one of the first things on my list of things to make for dinner….unless it’s my absolutely Easy Skillet Stovetop Lasagna. It’s a total game changer!
No boiling noodles ahead of time, no layering, no oven, just one skillet, on your stovetop and you’ll be enjoying an Italian favorite in just about 30 minutes.
Easy Skillet Stovetop Lasagna Ingredients
• ground beef
• Italian Sausage
• onion
• garlic, Italian seasoning, red pepper flakes
• marinara sauce
• lasagna noodles
• ricotta cheese
• parmesan cheese
• parsley, salt and pepper
• shredded mozzarella cheese
• basil leaves
It’s everything you love about lasagna, just super simple and no mess. Are you buying what I’m sellin’? I hope so, because this is one of the best dinners to come out of my kitchen like ever.
I’ve used a combination of ground beef and sweet Italian sausage, jarred Marinara and a creamy combo of ricotta, shredded mozzarella and Parmesan to make this lasagna super flavorful, cheesy and delicious.
I know you folks are going to LOVE how easy this skillet stovetop lasagna version is. It’s a must this homebound holiday season! Enjoy!
I’ll be sharing a simple dessert this Wednesday, instead of my usual Thursday this week. It’ll be the perfect little fun, sweet treat for you and the kiddos over Christmas break. Stay tuned.
A Few Cook’s Notes for Easy Skillet Stovetop Lasagna Recipe:
I used sweet Italian sausage for this recipe, but you could also use hot Italian sausage.
You can use a deep 12-inch skillet or a 4 or 5-quart Dutch oven for this recipe.

Just perfect for a hearty, delicious and easy meal and I’m all about that these days :) I seldom make lasagna, as I just find all the steps so much. This is such a great way to enjoy the flavours without the work!

This is my go-to recipe for lasagna now. So much easier than. The traditional layers. I do one thing differently though and I broil it for 5 mins on high at the end after the cheese is added to the top!
Mary Ann
I’m so happy to hear that Barb! I love how easy it is too! Great idea to broil at the end too! Thanks so much for trying the recipe and taking the time to leave a comment! Happy Summer!

21 hours! That sounds exhausting! I imagine dishes like this are totally in order after all that. Glad you made it safely. We must be on the same wavelength, as I just made a “broken Lasagna” dish with a partial box I had in my pantry. But i imagine my fam would love this recipe just as much! And I love the ease of making it! Pinning!
Mary Ann
It was tough, but it’s good to be back minus the cold weather! Dishes like this are the perfect warm up!

Becky
Hi, I Made this for dinner tonight. It was sooo good !!! Wa,state has let the stay home order expire. For some reason, I’m still a bit stuck in the stay home thing. I had no ricotta or fresh basil and no cottage cheese. I wasn’t willing to go to the store so here is my improv. Made the recipe according to directions but substituted homemade pesto cubes from the freezer(2) I really had nothing to sub ricotta so I put some heavy cream in to simulate dairy creaminess. It was so delicious. I will definitely make it again but following the recipe. Thanks so much
Mary Ann
So HAPPY you enjoyed it Becky! This dish has been a fan favorite. I love your change ups! Thanks for sharing!
Becky
Hi Mary Ann, made this again yesterday as Seattle still seems to be in comfort food mode. I actually had all of the proper ingredients this time. It was fabulous! My husband actually requested it. It was so yummy. Thank you for all of your work. This recipe is definitely going to be a regular. Stay healthy.
Mary Ann
I’m so happy you and your husband enjoy it Becky! We love it too. I’ll be sharing the recipe in video eventually! Thanks so much for following!

Erika
Can I use no boil noodles?
Mary Ann

annie@ciaochowbambina

Mary Ann
Thanks Annie! Hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas!
Katherine | Love In My Oven
I always think of lasagna as a good option for Christmas Eve dinner. Your skillet version would make things even easier! Happy holidays to you Mary Ann!!
Mary Ann
It’s so much easier than the whole layering thing Katherine. I do love a traditional lasagna, but when I’m busy, this is my go-to!

Kimberly Chapman
So glad I found this! Easy and delicious. I am not a ricotta texture fan so I used feta. Adds a little bite. Definitely making this again.
Mary Ann

Camila

Jennifer clark
Thank you for sharing this easiest recipe. I’ll try it on weekend for my husband. Keep sharing.
Mary Ann
You’re very welcome Jennifer! This is one of our easy favorites for sure!
Susan Porter
Recipe was very good but it took longer than listed to get the noodles soft.
Mary Ann
All depends on the exact temperature on your individual stove Susan. So happy you tried the recipe! It’s one of my family’s favorites!
Teresa Cox
Oh no! I’m cooking it right now and used oven ready noodles. As I’m scrolling thru comments you told someone that no they cannot use no boil noodles. Is my dinner gunna be ruined now?
Mary Ann
Hi Teresa. I tested this recipe with regular lasagna noodles not no boil. Let me know how you make out with the no boil.
Sheri
I am a total lasagna fiend. I make mine about once a year because I like it dripping with cheese.
I made your recipe this evening but tweaked only a few of the ingredients to closer mimic my lasagna. I must say, your recipe is fabulous! It was totally delicious and I could hardly tell the difference between your stovetop method and my baked method. Your measurements and instructions were perfectly bang on!! …though, I did pop it under the broiler for 2 mins to brown the top before letting rest while we ate our salads.
Best stovetop lasagna on the internet!!! Thank you for sharing!!!
Mmmmmm, leftovers tomorrow!!
Mary Ann
Such a compliment! I’m honored Sheri! So happy you enjoyed it. And thanks so much for taking the time to leave your comment! XO
