These Chewy Brown Sugar Blueberry Cookies are soft and chewy and loaded with dried blueberries. The rich, sweet flavor of the brown sugar makes these cookies irresistible!
Hey there folks!
Hope y’all had a wonderful weekend. We enjoyed a beautiful sunny weekend at the beach with friends. We were livin’ the dream as Tom always says.
Today, I’m keeping things short and sweet.
These Chewy Brown Sugar Blueberry Cookies guys…YUMMO.
I made them a few weeks back because I came across a bag of dried blueberries in my pantry that I used for my Maple Cinnamon Granola and I thought, why not use the remainder in a cookie?
I knew I’d need to get the recipe to the blog lickety-split because I shared them with several friends and they were a total hit.
They’re super chewy, the warm hint of cinnamon is perfect and the chewy, tangy blueberries make these cookies!
What does brown sugar do to cookies?
Brown sugar is naturally moist, so it will make your baked goods moister and softer than if just using white granulated sugar.

I’ve never had dried blueberries in cookies, but I know I’d love it! These look absolutely delicious and so simple to make!
Mary Ann
They’re beyond easy Marissa! My neighbors are huge fans of these cookies! I get my blueberries from Costco. It’s a nice big bag without a nice big price!
Katherine | Love In My Oven
We’ve always got dried blueberries in the pantry because my kids love them! We will definitely be making these cookies soon!
Jennifer @ Seasons and Suppers
I don’t think I’ve ever had a cookie with fresh blueberries in them! They look fabulous though and such a great idea. Another delicious way to enjoy Summer blueberries :)
Laura
What a great idea, Mary Ann! I love dried fruits and always have some around. Kind of makes a “heatlhy-ish” cookie, in my book!
Trish
Can you use fresh blueberries for these cookies?
Thank you!
Mary Ann
Hi Trish! I have only tested these with the dried blueberries because I wanted the berries to be chewy and not soft. If you try it with fresh, let me know how it works out!
Kat
Amazing taste. I used low carb flour which didn’t work as they broke apart. Fabulous flavour!
Mary Ann
So happy you tried the recipe Kat! This is one of my favorites!
Jackie
Can you add white chocolate chips successfully to these cookies?
Mary Ann
Hi Jackie. I have only tried the recipe as I’ve shared it, but I don’t see why some chocolate chips would not work. Maybe add 1/2 cup of the dried blueberries and 1/2 cup of the white chocolate chips?
Steph
These were delicious!! I accidentally used less butter than the recipe calls for (1/2 c) and they still came out great. Sweet, chewy, and held their shape well while baking.
Mary Ann
So happy you gave the recipe a try Steph! I make these often for one of my neighbors who just loves them! Thanks so much for taking the time to leave a comment!
Linda
I made the Chewy Brown Sugar Blueberry cookies today, but was a little disappointed. My cookies flattened out on me. The taste is really good but the appearance is a little disappointing. Is it possible my butter was too soft? I am beginning to think I should have put in frig to chill for half hour or so, but you did not say to do that.
Mary Ann
Hi Linda. The butter should just be at room temp. And make sure you bake at 350 degrees and no higher and your cookies should turn out fine. Thanks for trying the recipe.
Lind
Thank you Mary Ann for your response. The butter had been out on the counter for about 3 hours, due to something else coming up and was afraid that was the case. My temp was 350 degrees. The only thing I did different was use the small (1 TBSP) scoop and baked for 10 minutes. I will be making cookies next week, so I can freeze the dough for our camping trip. Will the dough freeze ok? I normally put 6 pieces of dough in a seal a meal bag, so we can have fresh baked cookies. Thanks.
Mary Ann
Yes, you can freeze the dough!
Jennifer
what a great cookie! I was looking for a way to use the dried blueberries I had from Costco that were sitting in my pantry. This recipe came up and I had to try it. Super easy and super tasty. Sweet surprise and something different. I’ll definitely make these again.
Mary Ann
So happy you enjoyed them Jennifer. That’s where I get my dried blueberries. These are a favorite with my neighbors here at the beach.
