Why You’ll Love this Recipe
This is a super easy slow cooker meal for those busy nights. Just grab yourself some chicken breasts, a couple packets of taco seasoning and just three other ingredients and you’ll have a flavor-packed meal that the whole family will enjoy.
This recipe is so versatile. You can serve it as a filling for tacos, over rice or any other grain you enjoy or over spiralized veggies.
Ingredients You’ll Need
- boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- salsa
- taco seasoning packets
- diced green chiles
- cream cheese
Step-By-Step Instructions
The first step is to add your boneless, skinless chicken breasts to your slow cooker and sprinkle them with your two packets of taco seasoning.
The second step is to top the breasts with your salsa, followed by your chopped green chiles and cream cheese. You will cover your slow cooker at this point and cook for roughly 2-3 hours on high or until the internal temperature of the chicken is 165 degrees F. Mine took 2 hours to reach the 165 internal temp.
The third step is to remove the cooked chicken breasts from the sauce and shred. Before adding the shredded chicken back to your slow cooker you will whisk the sauce until smooth.
So easy, am I right? It’s creamy and zesty and one of the easiest meals to make. If you’ve got kids who live on their own and they’re novices in the kitchen this is one recipe you need to forward to them. Once they give it a try, I bet they’ll add it to their weekly menu!

A Few Cook’s Notes for Slow Cooker Creamy Taco Chicken
You can find the chopped green chiles in the international foods aisle at your local market.
You’ll need two packets of taco seasoning for this recipe. I use Old El Paso mild seasoning, but you can use the original, hot and spicy or the 25% less sodium. You choose.
As I mentioned above you can add this filling to your tacos (we use flour tortillas), serve it over rice or spiralized veggies or serve it over any other type of grain you enjoy.
