This Watermelon Granita is deliciously refreshing and perfect for all your summer parties. It takes minutes to make, couldn’t be easier and is always a crowd pleaser!
Hello friends! How was everyone’s 4th of July?! I took a break from the blogging world for a bit and enjoyed some relaxing time with family and friends! So with my battery recharged, I’m back at the BHK to share one of my favorite quick and easy summer desserts. Fresh ingredients are what desserts are all about at our house during the summer months, so this sweet and tasty Watermelon Granita totally fits the bill. When the temps start rising, (high 90’s in my neck of the woods!) there’s nothing like a refreshing, fresh fruit granita. It’s the perfect sweet treat cool down.
If you’ve never tried a granita, it’s a frozen dessert that originated in Italy. The texture of a granita is somewhere in between an Italian ice and a snow cone. What’s great about a granita is that there’s no need for an ice cream maker. You combine your ingredients, pour them into a 9×13 pan and off to the freezer it goes. Every hour for approximately 3 – 4 hours you simply remove the pan from the freezer and scrape the mixture with a fork. When you get to the part that’s not quite frozen yet, place the dish back in the freezer for another hour. Continue the scraping process until the entire mixture has been scraped.
Not only is this the easiest summer dessert recipe ever, you only need four ingredients to make it happen! Some seedless watermelon, some honey for sweetness, fresh lime juice and mint for garnish and BAM! Dessert is served my friends! Stay cool and hope you enjoy. I shared this recipe on my friends Carrian and Cade’s blog, Oh Sweet Basil, so head on over to check out the full recipe!
