Hello, my name is MaryAnn and welcome to The Beach House Kitchen! I am the resident cook, writer and photographer.
Thinking back I can say I have always loved to cook (and eat)! Growing up my mother and my grandmother were incredible cooks and from the first recipe I ever attempted solo (cinnamon buns from The Betty Crocker Cookbook for Boys and Girls) my Dad would say anything I made was the best thing he ever ate! I’m sure that wasn’t always true, but flattering nonetheless.
So, why did I start this blog? Well, I have to say the main reason was because my good friend Rose said I had to! Thank you for the idea Rose and all the encouragement along the way! And really all the stars aligned….my two boys, Sean and Casey were both in college and my husband Tom and I were empty nesters so I had lots of time on my hands, I wanted to finally have a job I would really love, I had been creating my own recipes and collecting recipes from magazines and other fabulous blogs for years and really wanted them in one place, I love cooking for friends and family and seeing them enjoy what I have prepared and then want to try it themselves, and lastly because I have three wonderful sisters who call me often and say, “hey Mare could you send me your recipe for…” So why the heck not??
So you might be asking yourself why the name The Beach House Kitchen?? Well, I grew up my entire life lucky enough to spend summers at the Jersey Shore. I entertain from Memorial Day to Labor Day and love every minute of it! A day that is spent planning who can come to dinner, what I am going to prepare, making a list and checking it twice, and going to the market and fabulous vegetable stands to gather up some beautiful fresh local ingredients is a day well spent! My fondest memories are from times spent there with family and friends and the wonderful meals we have shared together.
So please, join me at the beach, relax and enjoy the food! Thanks for stopping by The Beach House Kitchen and keep in touch!
